Just when you thought the XL Bully had received all the bad press it could handle for 2023, we close the year off with possibly the craziest XL Bully story of the year yet.

As per the BBC, a 2-year-old XL Bully named Hank mauled owner Scott Thurston, 32, at his home in Glanaman, Carmarthenshire, as the man was having sex with his partner Leanne Bell.

Leanne immediately called the police as the dog attacked Scott and left him with wounds to his left forearm and chin. Body cam footage shot by officers showed them arriving at the property, with Scott attempting to muzzle Hank in the garden. The dog was eventually contained in a downstairs room.

Leanne is heard saying to the two police officers: “I’ve got four kids, I love the dog, but I can’t have him around my kids.”

Llanelli Magistrates Court heard that Scott & Leanne had been arguing before becoming intimate in the early hours of the morning. For some reason, XL Bully Hank saw his owner about to get some action, thought ‘not today’, and launched into a sudden attack.

Fortunately, Scott was not seriously injured, but obviously the situation could have turned out a whole lot worse, and for that reason the dog was confiscated and is being kept in kennels while authorities seek a destruction order under Section 2 of the Dogs Act 1871.

Obviously it’s sad to think of this clueless, c0ck-blocking dog being destroyed, but it’s probably the safest option all things considered. Remember – from 31 December 2023 all XL Bullies must be kept on a lead and muzzled in public and from 1 February next year it will be illegal to own an XL Bully, unless the owner has an exemption. Dogs on the exempt list will have to be neutered and microchipped.
