The shambolic Willy Wonka Experience in Glasgow has been dominating internet discourse for over a week now, and it looks like one production house is ready to capitalise on this by producing a horror film based on one of the event’s stars: The Unknown.

The synopsis is as follows:

The film follows a couple haunted by the death of their son, Charlie, as they escape to the remote Scottish Highlands where an unknowable evil awaits them.

The unknowable evil, of course, is none other than The Unknown, who has nothing to do with Willy Wonka whatsoever and was just a villain dreamed up by ChatGPT when the Willy Wonka Experience organiser was putting the event together:

As per Bloody Disgusting, the production house said: “We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”

They also confirmed a late 2024 release date, which doesn’t exactly suggest they’ll be taking their time to put together a quality horror film, but I guess you’ve got to strike while the iron’s hot.

The question is: will anyone even be talking about Willy Wonka or The Unknown next week, let alone at the end of the year? I suppose that’s a risk they’re willing to take. Who knows, if they ask ChatGPT to write the script it could be on our screens before we know it.
