3. IT IS ILLEGAL TO BE DRUNK IN THE PUB: LAW

Pub

Bizarrely, this is true. Under section 12 of the Licensing Act 1872 “every person found drunk… on any licensed premises, shall be liable to a penalty.” All the pubs I have ever been to have been full to the brim with drunks. If I’d known that I was cavorting with common criminals I would have left in disgust. It is also illegal for the owner of the public house to permit drunkenness or disorderly conduct on the premises. Good luck with that.

These laws date back to the 19th century and have never been repealed, only added too by the Licensing Act of 2003, under which it is an offence to sell alcohol to a person that’s drunk. It’s harrowing to think that nearly everyone you have ever known is a criminal. I’m not looking forward to going to the police station tomorrow to hand all my mates in.
