It was pretty cool seeing 62-year-old Val Kilmer pop up in Top Gun: Maverick again, but might we also see the Hollywood legend make a return to the Batman franchise at some point?

Val said he’d be up for it when asked by reporter Jim Vejvoda during an interview with IGN this week:

In fairness, Val Kilmer’s Batman probably gets more hate than it deserves. Aside from the bat nipples, it actually wasn’t too bad. He was also lumped with a subpar Chris O’Donnell as Robin and Two-Face wasn’t great either. Val Kilmer was a decent Batman in a crappy Batman movie, basically.

In any case, given his age and health issues, I don’t think Val Kilmer returning as Batman is something we can expect to happen in this lifetime. Unless he played Batman in old age or something. Even still, it would be a little uncomfortable casting someone who physically can’t perform a role just to do it for the publicity and nostalgia. Then again, he wants to do it. So who knows?

It’s more likely we could see Val Kilmer in the Heat remake in some capacity, so let’s see what happens with that. If they do end up bringing him back for Batman though, might as well go all-in and bring back Michael Keaton, George Clooney and CGI Adam West too. Who says no?
