These Guys Dressed Up As Star Wars Characters For An Election

America thinks their political system is becoming a bit of a joke right now. They’ve got Donald Trump looking like a middle aged woman and saying outrageous shit left, right and centre, yet still doing far better than anyone anticipated. They’ve got other celebrities trying to jump in on the fun, with Kanye looking like a very real candidate for 2020. And on top of all that, they just cannot seem to reach a decision they’re all happy with when it comes to gun policy. But they’ve got it relatively easy over there because nothing makes more of a joke of a countries political candidates than what has just gone down in Ukraine. And what has just gone down is several police officers publicly arresting a man dressed as Chewbacca. Chewie was driving his friend, who was also dressed up but as Darth Vader, to the city of Odessa’s mayoral election where Luke Skywalker’s would-be father was about to try and take control of the Death Star/the southern city of Ukraine.

Chewbacca Arrested

Supposedly members of the ‘Ukrainian Internet Party’, which launched two years ago and regularly uses Star Wars characters to spread their message (of enhanced transparency… because that’s related to Star Wars?), these two guys were rolling through town towards the election in the Wookie Whip having been canvassing earlier (illegal in Ukraine on the day of the ballot). Police pulled them over and, after the guy in the Chewbacca costume failed to produce a license, they arrested him and this beautiful video was born for us all to enjoy:

I can’t decide what I find funnier: the music, the expression of the costume that makes him look like he’s on a murderous rampage or the fact that all of the officers are genuinely struggling to restrain him. It looks like some awful low-budget remake that is just so bad it becomes amazing. I could honestly happily watch video this on a loop until I died, unlike this video which may just actually kill you.
