WWE held their now-annual ‘Day One’ edition of RAW last night, where a ‘former WWE champion’ was slated to show up. About an hour into the show, they trolled everyone by rolling out possibly the most underwhelming WWE champion of all time, Jinder Mahal, before the real surprise rocked up in the form of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson:

The classic Rock return promo – interrupting some jabroni in the ring before making light work of him and blasting him with the People’s Elbow. Only this time, he announced that he’ll be sticking around, and in a sort of confusing and convoluted way called out his real-life cousin, WWE champion Roman Reigns, causing the crowd to go wild!

So obviously, this is leading to a dream match between the pair at Wrestlemania which is taking place on the weekend of the April 6 & 7 this year. Interestingly, the pair were heavily rumoured to face off at Wrestlemania last year, and Rock even confirmed that this was the original plan:

Some people reckon the match could happen as soon as the Royal Rumble in January or Elimination Chamber in February, but those people are idiots, because there’s no way they’d waste a Rock return on anything less than the biggest WWE event of the year at Wrestlemania in Los Angeles.

For what it’s worth, here’s how Roman Reigns responded to the call-out:

Won’t be laughing when The Rock smashes him with a Rock Bottom and People’s Elbow in front of 100,000 people at Wrestlemania 2024, will he? Should be huge.
