There are many iconic episodes in Friends throughout the seasons, including ‘The One Where Everybody Finds Out’ and ‘The One With The Prom Video’. Set against the lights of Las Vegas, the iconic ‘The One In Vegas: Part One’ and ‘The One In Vegas: Part Two’ are yet more episodes full of laughter and unforgettable moments.

Let’s explore the funniest scenes that contribute to the two-part episode’s enduring appeal and brace for a nostalgic journey through some of the most comical moments that unfolded in the entertainment capital of the world.

One Of The Most Classic 1990s Sitcoms

Netflix is known for some of its thrilling and popular television shows which spread through word of mouth like wildfire. The most recent Netflix documentary ‘The Deepest Breath’ has been hugely talked about, as well as its true crime documentaries like the Murdaugh Murders.

However, as well as new television shows, Netflix is also popular for showcasing a range of older popular shows that subscribers still want to watch. Some classic sitcoms to watch on Netflix UK right now include Seinfeld, The Office, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and of course Friends.

Airing from 1994-2004, Friends was a hugely popular American sitcom which was loved back then and is still loved by many today. Full of quirky characters, unfortunate life events, and New York drama, it’s clear to see why it continues to stay on Netflix UK. The show was nominated for 62 Primetime Emmy awards and won six Emmys while it aired.

The One In Vegas: Part One & Part 2

The start of season 5 of Friends marked the end of one group trip for the gang – leaving London after Ross says the wrong name at the altar. The end of the season would mark another iconic trip for the group as they all head to Las Vegas on a surprise visit to Joey at the world-famous Caesar’s Palace.

Much like all the other Friends episodes which have hilarious lines and laughable moments, there were many funny scenes which occurred while the gang were in Las Vegas.

Joey’s Hand Twin

During the friend’s time in Vegas, one of the most amusing scenes takes place at a blackjack table where Joey is eager to turn his trip to Las Vegas into a winning venture. Originally in the city to film a movie that ultimately got cancelled, Joey has been making ends meet by posing as a Roman gladiator for tourists. When he finds himself at the blackjack table, he is quickly convinced that he’s discovered his ‘hand twin’ in the dealer.

The dealer is equipped with colourful chips and a deck of cards, ready to deal to players, but Joey is too distracted at the table by his newly discovered hand twin. Joey, visibly excited, encourages others to notice the uncanny resemblance between his hand and the dealer’s. Despite the scene’s absurdity, Joey is steadfast in his belief that this hand twin could be the big break he’s been waiting for.

Phoebe & The ‘Lurker’

As well as card tables, the casino floor is also full of slot machines where Phoebe is spending her time. Phoebe has her own comedic encounter when she faces off against a ‘lurker’ while playing the slot machines. She’s convinced that this old woman is ‘lurking’ and waiting to swoop in and claim her jackpot, leading to a series of amusing confrontations. The humour reaches its peak when Phoebe gets escorted out of the casino for her increasingly odd behaviour, only to return disguised as her alter ego, Regina Phalange.

Adding to the hilarity, she then tries to help Joey convince the blackjack dealer that a career as hand twins is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The juxtaposition of Phoebe’s eccentric behaviour with the mundane setting of a casino creates comedic gold, making this scene a standout in an episode already rich with laughs.

Chandler & Monica’s Almost Wedding

Chandler and Monica also find themselves playing casino games at the casino as they take their turn at a craps table. Convinced that their luck is a sign from the universe, they decide to get married then and there. The atmosphere is thick with tension, with chips exchanging hands and dice rolling, while an eager crowd gathers around the table, cheering them on.

Just as they are about to make it official, they see Ross and Rachel emerging from the wedding chapel, which gives them pause and leads them to rethink their decision. This moment encapsulates the unpredictable yet endearing nature of Chandler and Monica’s relationship, making it one of the episode’s standout scenes.
