The Couple Who Won Reform’s ‘Cut My Bills’ Competition Are Nigel Farage’s Friends

It turns out that the winners of the Cut My Bills competition by Reform UK are long-time supporters of the party’s Wigan branch, and have been known to Nigel Farage from at least 2019, way back when Reform was the Brexit Party.

Here’s the moment Ray and June Dibble won the ‘completely random’ draw to have Reform UK pay their energy bills for a year…

Reform UK’s Wigan branch described the couple as “staunch branch members” in a Facebook post celebrating the win, so I’m not even sure they’re trying to hide it, to be fair. Maybe it’s just a total coincidence that they won the competition?

Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed that they are reviewing the draw following complaints.

It’s unclear yet what they’re looking into; the idea that the competition was rigged or that it breaches election rules by effectively “bribing” potential voters. But come on, Ray and June’s votes were already in the bag!

Furthermore, the Open Rights Group described the contest as a “data harvesting exercise,” as entrants were required to disclose their past and future voting intentions. Did anyone even know this competition was happening? I don’t recall it getting any coverage and I’m basically on the internet all day.

Farage has stated he is “not the least bit worried” about the review, as he claims the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) had previously cleared the draw’s format.
