A teacher from Essex has pretty much gotten away with murder with some flimsy excuse that his actions were not motivated sexually.

Sean Powell, head of business and ICT at Harwich and Dovercourt High School, was called into a professional conduct panel after it was found that he had explicit pictures of female students on a pen drive.

He was called out by the National College for Teaching and Leadership, not only for the pictures, but for some other dodgy behaviour as well. Several students came forward saying that he had been speaking to them on their mobiles and Facebook.

He also told one student that her legs looked great in a photo and another that she had a lovely frame and that what she was wearing was putting him off his lesson. Wowza — pretty sure that’s not how you’re supposed to speak to teen girls under your supervision.

But probably most damning of all, he had a stash of pen drives at school which contained close ups of student’s legs, tits and butts as well as images of naked and topless women. I bet Adam Johnson would love to get a hold of those.

So anyway, despite all of this quite obviously suspect behaviour, he has been let off all of it as the panel decided that he was being honest when he said that none of this ‘was sexually motivated’. The decision maker on behalf of the Secretary of State said:

Taking into account that there has been a finding of unprofessional conduct, which is a serious matter in itself, I agree with the panel’s recommendation that prohibition is not proportionate and appropriate in this case.

Wow. Sean must feel like the cat that got the cream right now. I mean yeah, maybe a couple of those actions could be explained, but all of it together? This guy definitely should not be working around teenage girls, that’s for sure. Even dodgier than this social worker who bought sex toys for his patients.
