How To Fix Isis - British Army

An ex-British commander wrote an article recently for The Spectator. He fought in Afghanistan and wasn’t particularly impressed with the UK and US’ shortsighted plans. He is also worried about the future of Europe as security crackdowns continue unabated:

“The counter-terrorist view of the world holds that the problem cannot be defeated; it can only be contained. Britain will now increase expenditure on the agencies and special forces; Europe will try to tighten its borders with consequences for freedom of trade and movement; measures to track and detain suspects will become increasingly authoritarian.

In short, the West risks turning Europe into a giant version of Israel, in which a paranoid population turns in on itself in fear of the outside world.”

The commander’s idea to curb ISIS involves carving up Syria into an Assad led part and a non-Assad led part. According to him, Russia and NATO need to work together in dual airstrikes on Syria and there should be plenty of troops on the ground.

Of all the solutions, I think this guy’s is least inflammatory and/or mental. But, dividing an entire country sounds tricky and the likelihood of stupid America working with Russia is even less likely (despite the fact they were on the same team during WWII).
