Boyfriend Continues Competing At Fitness Event As Paramedics Treat His Passed-Out Girlfriend
A viral video from the Sydney HYROX event has sparked debate online after a man continued to compete while his passed out girlfriend/teammate received urgent medical attention on the floor.
The guy’s in it to win it, gotta give him that…
@aaronboundy Mrs is falling everywhere then on the floor and unresponsive but nah lets finish the wall balls. #hyrox #sydney #wallballs #fyp #foryoupage ♬ original sound – Aaron
Witness Aaron Boundy said: “That guy’s girl just fainted and like full hit the deck, she’s unresponsive and he just kept doing the wall balls and then crossed the line by himself. He’s left her there … what a piece of sh*t. I think I’ve just witnessed one of the worst things in my life.”
“She hit the deck, fainted and was full like twitching on the floor, and then her boyfriend just kept on doing wall balls, didn’t go over and see her … all the paramedics come over and start doing all this medical stuff to her, put barricades around her, so obviously it’s pretty bad.”
He claimed that the man tapped his girlfriend on the leg and then asked the race’s judge if he needed her to finish the race.
When he was told that he “technically didn’t”, he ran off and finished the race without her. Um… fair play?
Unfortunately there’s no word on if the man actually won the race, which might’ve determined if his complete disregard for his girlfriend’s well-being was worth it. Can you imagine if he lost and was then mad at his girlfriend for letting the team down? Talk about adding insult to injury!
The good news is, according to the article in the NY Post, the girl was OK afterwards:
“A while later, the racer recovered sufficiently to leave on foot with her entourage and was advised to seek follow-up medical advice as a precaution.”
What I want to know is: how’s his girlfriend going to feel when she sees this has gone viral? No doubt every single person she knows has text/called her already and told her to dump him. Then again, maybe this is a common thing for her and she faints a lot during exercise? Maybe they discussed it and agreed he should keep going if she ended up fainting mid-way through the race.
Hey, just trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt here.
