Everyone has been talking about Anthony Joshua’s bizarre outburst following his loss to Oleksander Usyk and we’re still not really sure why he decided to do it – other than being completely battered after boxing for twelve rounds of course – but Sky have released some extra footage that might shed some light on it.

The video clip is focussed on Anthony Joshua from the moment that Usyk is announced as the winner of the bout and it’s pretty strange to be honest. It begins with him walking over to Usky’s manager Egis Klimas and cutman Russ Anber and seemingly having an amicable exchange with them, before saying something to three-weight world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and silently fist bumping other members of the team.

Joshua then really does go off the deep end, grabbing the WBA and Ring Magazine belts from Yurii Ivanovich Tkachenko, Usyk’s head trainer, muttering to himself and then throwing them out of the ring. He then gets a bit angry with some guy in a black t-shirt who tries to usher him away from all of Usyk’s entourage before storming out of the ring and throwing his towel down before heading back to do his little speech.

Take a look at the footage below, along with a pretty good commentary I found of ‘what’s really going on’ during the sequence:

Pretty spot on rundown there from that guy isn’t it? I suppose you can only blame Joshua’s actions on being punched in the face for thirty minutes and then as a reaction to losing the fight, but the commentator is right – someone from his team really should have stepped in to save his bacon. Kinda sad that he’s probably going to be remembered for that now rather than his boxing legacy. So it goes.

For more of the same, check out Anthony Joshua’s attempted justification for his actions. Not really cutting it there.
