Looks like Michelle Keegan has some competition after being tipped to play the next Bond girl following the success of Fool Me Once – Jodie Comer AKA Villanelle from Killing Eve.

Which makes all the sense in the world if you think about it. Comer has already proven she can play a deadly killer and has the physicality to tussle with Bond. Her character in Killing Eve likes fashion, appreciates fine food and drink, and has elite banter. She’s elegant, good-looking and a top actress.  Not to mention her accents are A+! How is Michelle Keegan supposed to compete with that?

Well, both Brits are well in the running, with betting expert James Leyfield explaining the odds:

“Jodie Comer is the 6/4 favourite on specials betting sites to be the next female lead in a Bond movie. The actress has had the perfect training ground in the hit BBC spy thriller Killing Eve, for which she landed a Primetime Emmy Award for her superb portrayal of sociopathic assassin Villanelle. She could be an ideal Bond Girl, but could be just as effective as the main villain in the next Bond movie,” he concluded.

On Keegan, Leyfield said:

“Michelle, who is 5/2 to be the next Bond Girl, started out in soaps, starring as barmaid Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street for six years. That means she already knows how to perfect a martini – shaken, not stirred – but more than that, she could be an ideal MI6 colleague for Bond.”

Other names being floated include Phoebe Dynevor and Marisa Abela, who are both at 4/1 on betting apps. Let’s be honest though, they’re just there to make up the numbers because the next Bond girl is definitely coming down to a battle between Jodie Comer and Michelle Keegan. In fact, why not both? Let’s really give the new post-Daniel Craig Bond something to work with.
