Newly-Elected Reform Councillor Who Said ‘Nigerians Should Be Melted To Fill Pot Holes’ Has Been Suspended

The Reform councillor who said ‘Nigerians should be melted to fill pot holes’ has been suspended just days after winning his seat in the local elections.

Glenn Gibbins became the new councillor for Hylton Castle Ward in Sunderland this week, securing one of more than 1,450 new Reform council seats across the country.

This resulted in a load of backlash after a bunch of his old Tweets began doing the rounds…

Incredibly, he’s actually facing repercussions, with deputy leader of Durham County Council Darren Grimes confirming on BBC’s Politics North earlier that Gibbins had been suspended from the party.

Grimes said: ‘He’s been suspended and the party is investigating those very serious allegations and will act on them.’

He agreed it had been ‘a failure of the vetting process’.

‘I accept that, I do accept that,’ he said, before quickly moving onto antisemitism allegations against the Green Party.

I wonder if anyone has told Grimes that another Reform councillor had previously said that the holocaust was a hoax?

Anyway, back to Glenn Gibbins, I suppose it’s only a matter of time now before he steps down, because I don’t see what can change about the situation that would lead to him being reinstated.

Aside from the content of his Tweets, the guy can’t spell, and generally comes across as an idiot, so no big loss there.

The newly-elected Reform councillor who said ‘shoot the P-kis’ must be quaking in his boots.
