It looks like the case for the ‘German Madeleine McCann’ has finally been solved after a neo-Nazi mass murderer’s DNA was found on the corpse of the nine-year-old girl who went missing back in 2001.

34-year-old Uwe Boenhardt is suspected to have murdered Peggy Knobloch. Her disappearance haunted Germany in the same way that the Madeleine McCann case did in the UK after she vanished on a family holiday in Portugal.

However, Peggy’s remains were discovered in a forest in Germany earlier this year, leaving it up to the police to figure out who did this to her. Now the country is in shock after hearing that Boenhart’s DNA was found on a piece of cloth by the child’s gravesite.

Boenhardt and sidekick Uwe Mundlos committed suicide in 2011. They were both lovers of Beate Zschaepe, who is currently on trial for murder, arson and terror charges relating to allegations she’s part of an extreme-right terrorist organisation National Socialist Underground.

The trio are now being examined, including their computers, in order to try and figure out Boenhardt’s involvement with Peggy’s murder.

At least they’ve got a lead, and it seems like only a matter of time before they can figure out exactly how poor Peggy’s life came to an abrupt end. However, you’ve got to feel for the parents even more than usual – if it does turn out to be Boenhardt, they’ll get closure and yet no justice. As said, Boenhardt committed suicide back in 2011, so the parents won’t even get the chance to see the perpetrator go to jail. It’s so sad – RIP to Peggy and thoughts go out to the parents.
