A distant cousin to King Charles is on the run and being hunted by police after being convicted of hurling racist abuse in a McDonald’s restaurant, after already standing trial for threatening to stab a homeless support worker in the face and referring to gay men as ‘batty boys’.

Rowan Nash Lascelles is King Charles’ second cousin once removed and the 68th in line to the throne. So it’s possible your cat has a closer claim to the throne than him, and is probably less racist too.

41-year-old Lascelles is a great-great grandchild of George V and has multiple previous convictions for racially aggravated crimes. Aside from the support worker he threatened to stab in the face, he also attacked a woman at Victoria railway station, racially harassed a man in WH Smith at the same station, and then racially and verbally abused a whole bunch of people in McDonald’s on Kilburn High Road last September.

Lascelles is said to have approached men he believed to be gay in the restaurant, referring to them as ‘batty boys’ and told them ‘I bet you love it up the a***.’

He then repeatedly started shouting the N-word as he approached the counter and continued to yell it into the kitchen. When a black male objected to the slur, Lascelles replied ‘go on let me say it one more time’.

All in all, Lascelles has 15 sets of previous convictions for 21 offences including racially aggravated harassment. He’s also been charged with criminal damage to a Colindale police station cell after being arrested for the McDonald’s incident. The guy is a royal menace to society!

Without trying to forgive him for his racism and threatening behaviour, it’s pretty clear Lascelles has some serious mental health issues going on. Normally a shouty, violent homeless person wouldn’t make the news, but when you’re a distant cousin of King Charles and 68th in line to the throne, you’re going to make headlines every time. Imagine if he came out and said he learned all his naughty words from Prince Philip?

Well anyway, Lascelles did not attend his latest trial at Willesden Magistrates’ Court this week and it went ahead in his absence. The judge issued a warrant for his arrest after finding him guilty of multiple offences.

Lascelles will be sentenced at a later date… if police can find him, that is. Maybe he’s hiding out somewhere with Kate?
