Remember a few years ago when a whole bunch of awful stories about Kevin Spacey came out and the guy was well and truly cancelled and pretty much disappeared off the face of the planet?

At the time a lot of the accusations against him were downright gross and we were told that the police were investigating them, but it’s been so long that I doubt any of us thought that anything was actually going to come of them. Well, for once we were wrong and the police have finally done their job and Spacey has now been formally charged with four counts of sexual assault and one other sex offence charge against three men. Four of these charges took place in London and one of them in Gloucestershire between the years 2005 and 2013.

Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said the following:

The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men.

He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.

The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.

Wow. Can’t believe that they’re actually going through with this so long after the allegations first surfaced but I’m definitely impressed with the authorities for following it up and getting to this stage. There’s no news yet as to when the trial will take place but you can imagine that it’s going to be pretty grim and it’s unlikely that Spacey will have much of a leg to stand on when he finds himself in the dock. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it, but the guy deserves it by the sound of things so will be good to watch him go down.
