Henry Nowak’s KIller Left ‘Cowering In Cell’ After Facing ‘Threats’ From Other Inmates
Unsurprisingly, Henry Nowak’s killer is having a tough time in jail and has reportedly been ‘cowering in his cell’ after facing repeated threats from other inmates, with no ceremonial sword to protect himself.
Vickrum Digwa, 23, has been switched from Winchester jail to HMP Frankland, Co Durham – the same prison where Ian Huntley was murdered.
As per LBC, Digwa is terrified, refusing to mix with the general prison population, and acutely aware of the prison’s violent reputation.
Despite holding “enhanced” status privileges, prison staff have placed him under strict 15-minute welfare checks due to fears of self-harm and targeted vigilante attacks.
Digwa was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years on June 1, after fatally stabbing 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton.
The case sparked massive outrage after bodycam footage revealed that police handcuffed a dying Nowak and ignored his pleas that he had been stabbed and couldn’t breathe.
The officers were acting on false claims made by Digwa, who lied that Nowak had subjected him to a racist attack.
So just a few weeks after his sentencing, Digwa is already having a nightmare prison experience, with at least 21 years more to come. Whether he makes it to the end of his sentence or not, he’s in for an awful time, which is of course no less than what he deserves.
The handling of Henry Nowak’s murder is still under investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Meanwhile, the UK Solicitor General has referred Digwa’s 21-year minimum sentence to the Court of Appeal, arguing it may be unduly lenient. Oof.
