I can’t remember the last time I thought about ‘The Addams Family’ but I imagine that it was sometime in the mid 90s when their two movies were out and everyone thought they were kinda kooky and cool. Or maybe when someone sang that song about Uncle Fester farting through the keyhole and paralysing the cat. I don’t know.

Anyway, it seems almost painfully obvious that Tim Burton would revisit the franchise at some point in his career and I suppose the most surprising part of all this is that it’s taken him this long to do so. Burton’s vision revolves around Wednesday Addams – the morose, deadpan teen once played by Christina Ricci – but obviously the rest of the family are going to be showing up too in the Netflix produced series that will drop this autumn.

Jenna Ortega now plays Wednesday and Cahterine Zeta Jones and Luis Guzman are on board as her parents Morticia and Gomez. Seems like the plot sees her attending some weird magical private school with a bunch of mysteries behind it. Take a look at the first trailer below:

That looks kinda silly at the start doesn’t it (and let’s not talk about the CGI piranhas) but then when she reaches the academy it does kind of look that it will at least be interesting? Sadly though it does just looks like your regular ‘fantastical’ Tim Burton adventure though really doesn’t it? Do you think he ever gets tired of making the same movie over and over again? Probably gonna wait on the reviews before I decide to watch it or not, but I’m sort of interested.

For more of the same, check out this picture of Amanda Holden dressed in skintight PVC as Morticia Addams. Iconic look.
