There are some things that you probably just shouldn’t make jokes about and it seems like Madeleine McCann’s disappearance is one of them following the news burger bar owner Joe Scholey received death threats after making one on Mother’s Day.

29 year old Scholey posted the following on social media for his company The Otley Burger Company in West Yorkshire in the build up to Sunday:

Lol I guess that’s kind of funny? It’s probably more offensive to me that he’s used such awful copy and paste/photoshop skills and tried to pass it off as a viable form of promotional material for his restaurant, but maybe that’s just me.

Anyway, loads of people weren’t happy with the post and labelled it ‘unacceptable’, ‘sick’ and ‘absolutely disgusting’ whilst Joe said the following about the death threats he had received since posting it:

I get death threats. I got one this morning. I got a petrol bombing one this morning – which is always good.

I’m not taking the mick out of a missing toddler. I’m basically putting, “Happy Mother’s Day” to all the mums.

She [Kate McCann] is a mum. Not the world’s greatest mum and not the world’s worst. She’s a mum, there’s one there.

Yeah I’m not really sure if that’s what’s happening with that poster but whatever. Joe seems to thrive on this stuff as he posted a picture of Karen Matthews – who pretended her child had been abducted – last year for Mother’s Day and one with Jimmy Savile and Fred West for Father’s Day. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to rein it in anytime soon.

Apparently his posts have led to a load of customers checking out his burgers, but also constant death threats and people egging his burger restaurant and throwing bricks through the windows. They’ve also turned him into an insomniac because he’s so worried about them. I guess that’s a fair trade off? Joe’s a real hero.

For more of the same, remember this sick bastard who used Madeleine McCann as a tourist attraction? Not cool.
