Billie Eilish Responds To Criticism For Saying In A Recent Interview That “Eating Meat Is Inherently Wrong’

Billie Eilish has doubled down after catching some flak for stating that “eating meat is inherently wrong” in an Elle magazine interview.

In an “Ask Me Anything” video with the outlet, Eilish was asked to name the “one hill she would die on”.

The 24-year-old said: “Eating meat is inherently wrong. You can eat meat – go for it – you can love animals, but you can’t do both.”

Eilish has now responded to the backlash she faced over these comments by sharing a bunch of animal slaughter videos on Instagram, which she captioned with a fairly angry message:

“stay f*cking mad at ME i really don’t give a goddamn f*ck go watch a documentary or two and some footage of what is done to the animals u claim to love and what it does to the planet u pretend to love as well. if that footage was hard for u to watch i encourage u to pls take a look at urself. like i am so tired of standing up for/having empathy for living beings being controversial. pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie. mwah“

Fair enough, really. The girl is entitled to her opinion. However, a lot of people are calling her a ‘hypocrite’ and ‘privileged’, arguing that she’s ignoring the high cost of vegan alternatives and cultural traditions that rely on meat.

Some also pointed out that while she avoids meat, she has previously worn leather and used makeup brands that are not cruelty-free. Aside from that – she flies private jets on the regular!

Look, no one’s perfect. But we can all have our opinions. Fair play to Billie Eilish for standing firm in her beliefs when other celebrities may have pvssied out or backtracked or not said anything at all to begin with.

Then again, I don’t think there’s a vegan, celebrity or otherwise, on the planet, who hasn’t let everyone know about it, is there?
