Everyone who has ever played football at any level knows what’s a good tackle and what’s a bad tackle, hell even my nana knows the difference. These days you tend to see most players go down under the softest of challenges and it’s hard to tell instantly whether the player is being an absolute pussy or has genuinely taken a decent kicking.
I think this tackle from Ben Sigmund of New Zealand on Ali Mabkhout of UAE I think we can all agree is a genuine horror tackle, well the first tackle is a bit late but the follow through is horrendous and is definitely deserving of the straight red card he received. One thing that is striking about this whole incident is the reaction from the Ali’s UAE teammates, they just don’t seem to bothered by the challenge.
I know for a fact if you did that in a 5-a-side game down Manchester Powerleague you wouldn’t be walking home, I’d be very surprised if you ever walked again.
