So Warner Bros has shared this deleted scene from ‘The Batman’ featuring Barry Keoghan as The Joker, with Matt Reeves previously expalining why the scene was cut from the film:

Not because anyone asked me to cut it, but [I didn’t think] it was necessary. But it’s a really cool scene with that same unseen prisoner in Arkham.

With the movie running at almost 3 hours and having seen 4 different actors play The Joker over the last 15 years, I guess maybe people are a bit Joker’d out and so cutting this scene was no big deal. Tough to say from that clip alone whether Barry Keoghan’s Joker can hang with the likes of Heath Ledger or Joaquin Phoenix, but it’s pretty cool that they’re marketing/foreshadowing the sequel in this way where no doubt Keoghan will feature more prominently. Not sure if he’s gonna be Batman’s #1 nemesis (please bring back Mr. Freeze FFS) but if so it would be cool if they can maybe do something with the Joker that hasn’t been done before. Barry Keoghan looks the part and has a decent Joker laugh – will give him that.
