It’s been a tough week for fans of movie stars as not only did we see Will Smith slap Chris Rock, but Bruce Willis also announced that he was retiring from acting due to his aphasia diagnosis and now Jim Carrey has also revealed that he’ll be stepping back from the silver screen.

Carrey was talking to Access Hollywood about his new movie ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 2’ when he broke the news, saying the following:

Well, I am retiring, I am being fairly serious.

It depends – if the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might.

I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.

I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like – and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists – I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.

Powerful words from the man that we could all stand to live by. I’m not sure if his ‘retirement’ will be felt that strongly though for all his fans as it seems like he’s barely even in any movies any more except for those last two ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ ones. Maybe ‘Dumb And Dumber Too’ was the last thing I can remember him being in but that was way back in 2014?

Feel like its a bit of a fake announcement considering he’s already semi retired anyway, but I’ms sure there are a few people out there that will feel sad at the news. ‘Ace Ventura’, ‘The Mask’, ‘Dumb And Dumber’, ‘The Cable Guy’ and ‘The Truman Show’ was a great run of movies but we all know that ‘Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind’ was his best performance. One of the greats.

For more of the same, check out Jim Carrey slamming spineless Hollywood actors for applauding Will Smith. Kinda has a point.
