Barry Keoghan Says His Role In ‘Saltburn’ Helped People To Stop Perceiving Him As A ‘Little Freak Man-Child’

If you haven’t seen Saltburn yet, you definitely should. I don’t want to give anything away because you should go into it with a blank brain but one thing you should know is that it stars Barry Keoghan, who played the creepy weirdo in ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’ and ‘Banshees of Inisherin’.

No spoilers, but in Saltburn, he plays a freak again, and steals the show in the process. But I guess he’s now worried about being typecast as just a creepy freak child, and so has declared he is NOT weirdo freak child but rather a freak MAN.

Speaking to GQ about audiences seeing him in a different light, he said:  “It’s nice, man. It’s nice not just being looked at as the weird-looking guy, the unique f*****g freaky little freak man-child, freak child-man, whatever you want to call it. My prettiness didn’t get me this far. Little freak child-man era, as we call it. And now I’m just Man. Freak-Man. Man-Freak.”

Hey, fair play to him. As far as I’m concerned he can call himself whatever he likes because if this freak is in a movie, we’re 100% watching it. He was already regarded as one of the finest up and coming actors around, but now with his performance in Saltburn and all the hype around that film, he’s solidified himself as a Hollywood superstar. He’s literally a must-see talent.

I wonder if he’s actually a bit of a weirdo in real life? I suppose you’ve got to be when you’re set to play the Joker in the next Batman film.

P.S. Is Barry Keoghan trying to be one of Hollywood’s ‘hot dudes’? Get a load of this sexy earring he wore at the Golden Globes last weekend!
