Barcelona Fan Mistakenly Travels 366 Miles To The Wrong St James’ Park Stadium
A Barcelona fan was left absolutely gutted yesterday after travelling 366 miles to the wrong stadium for a Champions League match against Newcastle United.
Instead of arriving at St James’ Park in Newcastle (North East England), he ended up at St James Park in Exeter (South West England). Whoops.
The fan, who drove from London, reportedly entered “St James Park” into his GPS without specifying the city.

He only realised the error at the stadium turnstiles when he presented his match ticket to staff, who informed him his team was playing on the other side of the country.
Exeter City staff felt so sorry for the fan that they gave him a free ticket to their League One game against Lincoln City that same night.
Exeter went on to lose that game 0-1, while Barcelona salvaged a 1-1 draw against Newcastle.
Adam Spencer, Supporter Experience Officer at Exeter City, said: “One of our volunteers came to the office to let us know that this guy had turned up expecting to see FC Barcelona. His English wasn’t great, but from what we could gather, he’d come from London. He was pretty gutted and a bit embarrassed. So, we sorted him out with a ticket and he got to watch a game at the real St. James Park. He’d be welcome back any time.”
Nice rage-baiting from Adam there with the ‘real St. James Park’ line. It is pretty cool that there was a game on that night, so at least the Barca fan’s trip was a complete waste of time. Just imagine how confused the guy must have been turning up to the stadium and not seeing a single Barcelona kit in sight?

Still, at least he didn’t go to Birmingham, Alabama, instead of Birmingham, England. Now that would be a c0ck up for the ages.
