Australian PM Anthony Albanese Apologises For Playing ‘Shag, Marry, Date’ Game On Podcast
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has apologised “unequivocally” for playing “shag, marry, date” on a podcast, which I guess is a tamer version of “shag, marry, kill”.
Albanese was asked to choose between Australian icons Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, and Rhonda Burchmore…

Albanese initially hesitated, noting he had only been married to his wife, Jodie Haydon, for six months.
However, when pressed on what he would choose if his marriage ended, he replied: “Oh, Kylie, clearly.” When the host clarified if he meant he would marry, sleep with, and date her, the PM responded with: “All of the above. She’s terrific.”
After a load of backlash and pearl-clutching both online and in the media over the weekend, Albanese offered this brief statement on Monday morning: “I apologise unequivocally for the comments.”
Fair enough really. As is often the case, it’s a total overreaction and non-issue, and if anything, makes him more likable and relatable, but unfortunately it never seems to play out that way online and in the media, and his political opponents are already beating him over the head with it.
At the same time, someone who’s been in the game for as long as Albanese has should probably find an amusing way to “decline to comment” such questions, just to avoid the inevitable sh1tstorm. Politics 101.
