You might have read the story last week about the 10-year-old British boy who is petitioning Apple to change the glasses emoji because it’s “offensive” and reinforce stereotypes about people wearing glasses.

Oxfordshire-based Teddy Cottlel told the BBC: “We want to change this—Apple are making it absolutely horrible for people wearing glasses,” he told the BBC. “They’re making people think we’re nerds and it’s absolutely horrible. It’s making me feel sad and upset, and if I find it offensive there’ll be thousands of people around the world that find it offensive too.”

Obviously stuff like this is par for the course these days, so it’s no wonder 10-year-olds are catching on. Unfortunately for young Teddy, Andrew Tate got wind of this story and decided to have a pop at the lad on Twitter X:

Which seems to be the general reaction on social media anyway, and obviously sucks because this is a 10-year-old child we’re talking about, regardless of how you feel about his petition. Didn’t any of the adults in his life (or indeed the BBC) have the foresight to realise the way this was going to go? Basically sealed this kid’s fate for the next 10 years of his life with one BBC article. Especially the “if I find it offensive there’ll be thousands of people around the world that find it offensive too” line. Absolute classic.

Who knows, maybe Andrew Tate sending shots at this 10-year-old might prompt someone to teach him the old “sticks and stones may break my bones” mentality, which will probably prove more helpful to him in the long term. Still, bit harsh to be ripping a 10-year-old on social media like that. Sort it out, Tate!
