Amazon Driver Caught On Camera Stealing Cat After Dropping Off Package
An Amazon driver snatched a homeowner’s pet from outside their home after dropping off a package… and was stupid enough to think they’d get away with it. In the age of Ring Cams!
Here’s the footage from outside the property in Lakewood, California:
Oof, by the neck as well. Somehow I don’t think this driver was taking the kitty off to live the pampered life.
The good news is that Amazon immediately identified the driver, sacked him, and notified the police. The 37-year-old driver admitted to taking the cat but claimed he thought she was a stray.
The bad news is the cat is still missing as the driver claims she “got restless and jumped out” of his vehicle shortly after he snatched her.
The cat, a Siamese-mix cat named Piper, is microchipped but according to the owner, was not wearing a collar at the time of the theft. Which could lend some credibility to the Amazon driver’s claim that he thought she was a stray. Even if she was situated outside the property.
Either way, Amazon has issued a formal apology, calling the incident a “horrible act”.
The (former) Amazon driver faces misdemeanor charges. Here’s hoping that brings Piper’s family some closure but more importantly than that – let’s hope the cat turns up safe somewhere.
