Mum Of Henry Nowak Killer Vickrum Digwa Jailed For Hiding Murder Weapon

The mum of murderer Vickrum Digwa has been jailed for three years for removing the knife used by her son to kill Henry Nowak from the crime scene.

53-year-old Kiran Kaur was able to make her way to the street where the murder happened as the family lived close by.

Under Vickrum’s instruction, she took the blade back to the family’s nearby home on St Denys Road, placing it inside her son’s bedroom among a larger collection of more than 20 ceremonial and other weapons.

Vickrum was then able to concoct a fake story for the police, alleging that Henry had racially abused and assaulted him, and neglecting to mention he had stabbed the 18-year-old – something the police only worked out 8 minutes after arriving when Henry was already dead.

According to the evidence presented at Southampton Crown Court, Vickrum Digwa handed the bloodied 8-inch blade directly to his mother right there at the scene. Kaur then took the weapon and ran back to the family home to hide it before the police could secure it.

The absence of the weapon at the scene, combined with a “wall of lies” from the family, severely hampered responding police officers. Not that this excuses the sheer incompetence of the officers on the scene that night.

Authorities did not locate the blade until a week after the murder.

During the sentencing, Judge William Mousley KC told Kaur that “a responsible parent would have challenged their son” and asked them to “do the right thing”. Can’t argue with that, really.

Vickrum was convicted of murder and carrying a knife in public, receiving a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years in June 2026. The Solicitor General has since referred his sentence to the Court of Appeal for being “unduly lenient,” while Vickrum is concurrently attempting to appeal his conviction for being too harsh.

Vickrum, his brother, and his father also face multiple weapons offence charges regarding 37 swords, flick-knives, axes, and knuckledusters found at their home, with a trial set for September 2027.

In the meantime, the latest on Vickrum Digwa is that he’s been ‘cowering’ in his cell as fellow inmates keep threatening him. Sounds about right.
