Moment Dying Student Says ‘I Have Been Stabbed’ But Is Arrested For ‘Racism’ Instead

Last week we covered the awful story of University of Southampton student Henry Nowak, 18, who was stabbed to death by Vickrum Digwa, 23, after the two got into a stupid argument over pavement space while crossing each other on the street in Portwood.

After stabbing his victim, Digwa, a Sikh, called the police and falsely claimed he was the victim of a racist attack,  which led officers to handcuff Nowak as he lay dying in the street. All while the student repeatedly told them he had been stabbed and couldn’t breathe.

The bodycam footage has now become available:

Nowak, dying in a pool of blood, is heard calling out ‘I’ve been stabbed’ three times before an officer replies: ‘You’ve been stabbed? Whereabouts? I don’t think you have mate’.

He is placed under arrest before the same officer says: ‘He’s going to be sick I think’.

A female officer is heard calling for an ambulance as another says ‘His pupils aren’t even reacting’ to her torch.

Digwa meanwhile lies to police and tells them he was called a ‘P***’ and had his turban knocked off his head. He tells officers he was the victim and that he has a swollen eye and insists his victim wasn’t stabbed.

His ‘wicked lie’ left Nowak ‘dying alone, humiliated and handcuffed’ as he bled out from a fatal 8cm chest wound from Digwa’s 21cm ceremonial dagger.

Nicholas Lobbenberg KC, prosecuting, told the court: ‘Henry Nowak dying alone, humiliated and handcuffed was a direct consequence of Vickrum Digwa’s dishonesty.

‘Vickrum Digwa chose on two occasions to make videos, first of Henry fleeing and then of Henry dying with close-ups of his face. The Crown says that is both intrusive and humiliating.

‘His defence describing Henry as a violent drunk racist aggressor compounds the grief of the family.’

Sentencing Digwa to life, Judge William Mousley KC told him: ‘You, Vickrum Digwa, murdered him, by doing so you robbed him of all those he loved, all the things he cared about and liked to do.

‘He would have been expected to live a long and hopefully happy and fulfilling life. You have brought misery and a lifetime of loss upon his family, and great sadness to everyone who knew him.’

The judge also shut down claims that Nowak had called Digwa a “P***”.

‘I am sure that Henry said nothing racist. You are the only person to make that claim and it is completely at odds with his previous character.’

Honestly, the story was shocking enough when we first read about it the other week, but the footage makes it even worse than the descriptions. How could the police immediately disbelieve Nowak’s claims that he had been stabbed, let alone fail to spot the fatal stab wound?

The kid literally died while in handcuffs because the officers were too busy arresting him for a ‘racist attack’ based purely on the word of the man who stabbed him. Absolutely shameful!

Digwa’s mum, Kiran Kaur, 53, was also found guilty of assisting an offender by removing the weapon from the scene. She will be sentenced at a later date.

I imagine there might be lawsuit coming for the police officers involved also.
