Enzo Fernandez Is Being Accused Of Racist Celebration After Scoring Vs England
Argentina and Chelsea player Enzo Fernandez has a reputation for being a bit of a racist, and has previously had to make apologies for it.
Which is probably why some people are taking issue with his celebration after scoring against England last night…

Hmm. I’ll be honest, it didn’t seem to me when watching live that Enzo was being a racist troll here, but after seeing suggestions that he’s trying to pull a monkey face, I guess it’s possible?
Of course no one would even dream of this if Enzo didn’t already have a dodgy history when it comes to this sort of thing, like when he shared a video on IG in 2024 singing racist chants with his Argentina teammates:
here is a video of the Argentina National team, led by Enzo Fernandez chanting incredibly racist and anti-immigrant words targeted at the France football team, which has many black players

The chant is basically about the France national team having a bunch of African players and how they aren’t really “French”. For what it’s worth, Argentina is the only team in the entire World Cup this year that has literally zero black players in its squad.
Fernandez caught a bunch of flak from football fans and even his own teammates at the time, and issued a statement saying he got “caught up in the euphoria” of the celebrations. He also apologised to his black teammates both personally and publicly.
As for whether he was trying to look like a monkey during last night’s celebration and what anyone wants to infer from that, I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, we’ve seen Messi do the same celebration… albeit without the exaggerated expressions:
