Security Guard Walked Out Of Santander Bank With Fortune And Flew To Ghana
A former G4S security guard pulled off the heist of the century (well, until he got caught) after tricking bank staff into handing him £117,000 while dressed in his old work uniform.
Kwabena Kissi, 40, walked into Santander in Brixton, South London, wearing a helmet with the visor down and carrying a large black briefcase.
He was admitted to a secure office behind the counters by unwitting staff, who handed him bags of cash totalling £117,200.

Staff only realised they had been duped when the genuine G4S guard arrived to make the regular collection later that day.
By that time, Kissi had already fled in an Uber which he booked under his own name.
The day after the theft on July 5 2022, Kissi flew to Accra, Ghana, claiming he was traveling to visit his ailing mother.
After living in Ghana for nearly four years, he returned to the UK on March 26 this year.
He was immediately arrested on arrival at Gatwick after Flying Squad detectives discovered he booked the Uber in his own name.
He even still had the same phone handset on him with which he booked the Uber. D’oh!

Kissi pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation at Snaresbrook crown court and was jailed for 40 months this week.
The judge told him: “You left the staff at Santander feeling extremely upset…
“I’m delighted to hear they were not subject to disciplinary action as a result of your fraud.
“You tripped yourself up of course by booking an Uber in your own name with a phone number known to police.
“Having returned to Ghana you later returned from Ghana to the UK and were arrested.”

Flying Squad Detective Constable Stuart Ponder, said after the case: “We identified Kissi as our suspect thanks to extensive CCTV enquiries and phone evidence that linked him to the minicab he used as his getaway vehicle.
“When we found that he had left the UK the day after the fraud, we feared he might never come back to face justice.
“We kept our eyes on him and officers were at the airport to arrest Kissi off the plane when he returned earlier this year.”
What a doughnut. If only he had stayed in Ghana with his mum, he’d still be a free man today. Although I guess 40 months in jail isn’t too bad considering he’ll probably only serve half that. Then he can go back to Ghana and live in the mansion that his stolen £117,000 paid for. Who says crime doesn’t pay?
