Belfast Rioters Set Irish Man’s House On Fire: ‘I Told Them Before They Lit The Fire. They Don’t Care’
It’s understandable that there’s social unrest following the events in Belfast this week, but stories like this just prove that there’s too many idiots out there who join in purely because they want to raise hell and destroy things indiscriminately.
Jamie Corry, an Irish man who lives lived on Lendrick Street in east Belfast, had his home destroyed during the night of anti-immigration violence on Tuesday:
The rioters set an Irish man's house on fire.

"I told them before they lit the fire. This is my house here. I'm sure they didn't care anyway. I thought I was one of their own… I understand that they're all angry, but I've just lost a home." pic.twitter.com/PydIFwd7ie
Jamie says: “I told them before they lit the fire. This is my house here. I’m sure they didn’t care anyway. I thought I was one of their own… I understand that they’re all angry, but I’ve just lost a home.”
Like he says – he gave them the heads up that it was his house, but they went ahead and burned it down anyway. How do you justify that?
The violent protests broke out across Northern Ireland following the stabbing and attempted beheading of Stephen Ogilvie by a 30-year-old Sudanese migrant who had moved into the victim’s social housing block just days earlier.
Ogilvie remains in hospital with severe injuries, and is said to have lost an eye in the attack.
As for Jamie, he’s lost everything, including irreplaceable sentimental items belonging to his late father. He told the BBC that watching his home of 13 years burn down was “a feeling I’ll never get over”.

Meanwhile, the family of Stephen Ogilvy has appealed for “peaceful protest” and said there are “many migrants who make a deeply valuable contribution to our society”.
I think Jamie could do with someone setting up a GoFundMe for him, don’t you? After all, the guy who clobbered the knifeman with his son’s hurling stick has already had one set up and he didn’t lose anything. It’s already at £23,000 and counting!
