‘Outrage’ As Bolton’s New Green Councillor Posts Video Driving £270K Lamborghini
A Green Party councillor is catching some flak after posting videos of himself driving a gas-guzzling Lamborghini supercar on social media.
Mohammad Baghdadi “Baggy” Khan, a 25-year-old newly elected Green Party councillor for the Halliwell ward in Bolton, shared a clip of himself driving a £270,000 Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, alongside footage celebrating his election victory.
Fair play to the guy – except it’s not exactly in line with Green Party policies. The party campaigns heavily on restricting fossil-fueled vehicles, cutting national speed limits to 55mph in order increase fuel efficiency, and implementing driving taxes.

With a 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine, the supercar Khan is seen piloting will do less than 20 miles-per-gallon of fuel.
And so – Councillor Khan’s comments section is filled with people calling him a hypocrite and a fraud and whatnot.
Khan has defended the footage online, replying to comments with: “Who said councillors can’t drive cars like this?”.
Bolton’s Green group leader, Hanif Alli, did attempt damage control on Khan’s behalf though. He said that the video was actually captured during a family wedding in 2023 and didn’t actually belong to Khan.
He also noted that hiring prestige cars is a standard tradition for celebrations within the Asian community, comparing it to hiring a Rolls-Royce or Bentley for a traditional British wedding, and argued the backlash was being “blown out of proportion”.

From Khan’s Instagram, it seems he drives a Mercedes AMG E63s, wears a Rolex, expensive designer gear, and has holidayed in Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi all in the last year.
Seems the guy is doing well for himself so good on him, but it’s also fair enough for people to ask how this lifestyle is compatible with Green Party policies.
In Khan’s defence – I have just read that his local campaign largely avoided environmental talking points, focusing heavily on international issues like Palestine instead. So yeah, he’s probably not in the Green Party for the environmental issues that they are known for.
