Tourist Gets Beaten Up By Local In Hawaii After He Threw A Massive Rock At A Monk Seal

An absolute menace of a tourist from Seattle, Washington, was filmed hurling a massive rock at an endangered Hawaiian monk seal swimming near Shark Pit Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii.

When confronted by onlookers, the man reportedly said: “I don’t care. Fine me, I’m rich”.

This might’ve been the worse possible response he could have come up with, and resulted in him being confronted and beaten up a local:

In addition to being beaten up, the 37-year-old tourist has also been detained and is now under investigation.

Hawaii authorities have yet to release his name, but according to some reports, he is Igor Lytvynchuk, the owner of Washington-based shipping company, Transridge, Inc. So yeah, I don’t think he was bluffing about being rich, not that it seems to have helped him out in this instance.

Furthermore, the local who beat him up has been awarded a letter of recognition by Republican state Sen. Brenton Awa.

Awa said: “Our attorney over here wants to make it clear we don’t condone violence, but we did make a letter of recognition for Mr. Ambassador of Aloha.”

Isn’t that nice to see? Of course, no one is condoning violence, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it should be punished in every instance, right?

The 37-year-old tourist is facing fines of up to $50,000 and jail time.
