KitKat Trucks Get “Presidential-Level Protection” After 12-Ton Chocolate Heist

It’s been a couple of weeks since the heist of the century that saw 12 tonnes of KitKat (413,793 units) stolen during a truck robbery in Italy, and Nestlé have now responded with an absolute genius bit of viral marketing.

However much $$$ they lost from the KitKat heist, they’ve made it back tenfold with this stunt – ‘Presidential-level protection’ for KitKat trucks riding through Canada:

Within days of the KitKats being stolen, Nestlé also introduced the “Stolen KitKat Tracker”, which allows consumers to type in their KitKat bar serial number to see if the KitKat they purchased from some dodgy character in a dark alley originated from the truck heist in Italy:

They way they’ve turned the whole thing around is so amazing that you have to wonder whether they stole the KitKats themselves just so they can give themselves all this incredible marketing. Either that or the chocolate mafia did them a huge favour by stealing all those KitKats.

Fair play to you, Nestlé. Fair play indeed!
