Cyclist Who Kneed Girl, 5, Onto Floor Hits Back After Losing Legal Battle

The cyclist who was filmed kneeing a 5-year-old girl onto the floor is now whining about losing a legal case against her father over the incident.

To recap the story: The cyclist, Jacques Davenne, initially won a defamation case against the little girl’s father after he shared the footage online, claiming the internet backlash was so severe he couldn’t leave his house anymore.

The courts even ordered the 5-year-old’s father, Patrick Mpasa, to pay the cyclist 4,500 euros in compensation!

Fortunately, the father’s appeal was successful as a court in Liege saw sense last week, ruling out the original decision and acknowledging that Mpasa had every right to share the footage online.

Now, Davenne, who is president of a local cycle club (of course), is b1ching and moaning to the press about losing the defamation case.

He said: “The issue I had was with my image being posted online, that wasn’t fair and social media can be a huge problem. He had no right to do that.

“I did what any good cyclist does and rang my bell several times, but they obviously didn’t hear me, so I cycled past but as I did so I slipped and lost my balance slightly.

“That’s when I knocked the little girl, I had put my leg out to balance myself, I didn’t realise I had hit her and she had fallen over as I had cycled past.”

Davenne (above) claims Mpasa chased after him, berated and attempted to hit him, which would have been fairly understandable given he’d kneed his little girl in the back, even he does insist it was accidental.

Funnily enough, Mpasa claimed ‘wouldn’t have made a big deal out of it had he just apologised’. A cyclist? Apologise? Yeah, right.

Davenne was ordered to pay €2,040 in court costs, a “symbolic” €1 to the family (?) and received a suspended sentence for unintentional assault and battery on the 5-year-old.
