Jason Statham To Play Jason Statham In ‘Jason Statham Stole My Bike’
Jason Statham is set to star as a fictionalised version of himself in a meta action-comedy titled Jason Statham Stole My Bike.
Deadline says that “plot details are being kept under wraps”, but it seems pretty self-explanatory; Jason Statham is going to be playing himself in what sounds like the role of a lifetime. He’s going to be a natural at it!
The movie is being directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, The Fall Guy). He’s working with a budget ‘north of $80M’, so it sounds like there’ll be some major action set pieces on there, aside from the obligatory grunting and punching and kicking guys who can barely fight.
Interested to know where the bike comes into it though. Maybe he’ll play a retired version of himself who has to steal someone’s bike to save someone who’s been kidnapped?
Or maybe he’ll play a mechanic, a beekeeper, an Expendable, a driver, a heist specialist, a medic, an undercover agent, a deep-sea rescue expert, and a cash-in-transit guard all in one?
I guess it makes sense that the only real thing left to do in his career is to go full meta and play himself in a kind of Last Action Hero style film. Hopefully he’ll keep his British accent for it too because Jason Statham with an American accent has always sounded wrong.
Well anyway, it’s got Jason Statham playing himself and David Leitch directing. Do you really need to hear anything else? Will definitely be checking this out when it drops in 2027.
