‘Dilbert’ Creator Scott Adams In Hospice With Only Days Left To Live
UPDATE: Scott Adams died shortly after we posted this. RIP to a legend of the cartoon strip game.
Scott Adams. A name not many people may know. However, he is the creator of ‘”Dilbert” – a comic strip which blew up in the US and internationally during the 90s and early 00s due to its relatable satire of corporate office culture.
Sadly, Scott Adams may not have much longer left to live amid his battle with prostate cancer, with the 68-year-old reportedly in hospice at his home in Northern California, according to TMZ, who spoke to his ex-wife Shelly Miles.

Adams began receiving end-of-life care last week because his health was declining “rapidly”, and may only have days left to live.
The cartoonist and author announced he was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in May 2025, and it seems things have quickly gotten worse since then.
Earlier this month, he said: “I talked to my radiologist yesterday, and it’s all bad news — the odds of me recovering are essentially zero. I’ll give you any updates if that changes, but it won’t.
“So there’s no chance that I’ll get my feeling back in my legs, and I’ve got some ongoing heart failure, which is making it difficult to breathe sometimes during the day. However, you should prepare yourself that January will probably be a month of transition, one way or another.”

Adams created “Dilbert” in 1989, but by 2023, more than 80 newspapers stopped printing the cartoon after he was accused of spouting racist remarks.
Adams had said on his podcast that black people were “a hate group” and urged white people to “get the hell away” from them. Which does indeed sound like a sure-fire way to get yourself cancelled.
Despite the drama, Adams continued to host his podcast and promote his cartoon. He made a lot of money from Dilbert and may actually be remembered as one of the last great cartoonists of his generation. Maybe? I say that because I have no real grasp on whether cartoon strips are still a thing anymore. And also because he kind of tarnished his legacy with all the racist stuff he was saying.

Either way, here’s hoping Scott Adams is not suffering too much in his final days and that he’s surrounded by his loved ones (by all accounts he is). No one deserves to die from something as awful as prostate cancer.
Fair play to his first ex-wife for caring for him too. He divorced her, married someone much younger, and got divorced again. That’s a good woman right there!
