The identity of the Nashville Covenant Christian school shooter who killed three children and three adults has been revealed to be that of Audrey Hale, a biological female that identifies as a male.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said that Hale was a 28-year-old former student of the school.

So it sounds like the police chief misgendered the shooter in that clip, but I don’t think she’ll mind given that police shot her dead at the scene.

The doors on the campus are typically locked, but the shooter managed to gain access through a side entrance by shooting through the glass:

Audrey Hale’s details were quickly uncovered online:

Apparently the shooter left a manifesto which might provide some insight into what her motives were exactly, not that it really matters at this point. At 28 years old, Hall must have graduated from the school at least 10 years ago, which makes it a little odd that she’d return a whole decade later to shoot up the place. Usually the former student-turned-shooter thing is someone who just left the school a year or two prior, or still attends. Makes you wonder what may have happened to her at this school, not that it could ever be justification for returning there and shooting dead six innocent people, including three children.

Unfortunately, Aubrey Hall’s actions will also inevitably lead to more backlash against the transgender community, so that’s just another depressing layer to this profoundly sad story. RIP to the victims and thoughts with their families, as more details develop.
