Landman Goes Viral After Liberal Character Gets ‘Schooled’ On They/Them Pronouns
The latest episode of Paramount’s Landman is going viral after a pretty blonde actress politely ‘schooled’ a liberal character on they/them pronouns.
Ainsley meets her new non-binary roommate at TCU, Paigyn, who explains that she’s vegan, uses they/them pronouns, hates men, is triggered by the word ‘penetrate’ because it reminds her of the patriarchy, hates leather shoes, hates air fresheners, and asks that the room becomes a “safe space”:
No idea why a Midwestern non-binary 18-year-old would decide to attend a uni named Texas Christian University in the south, but I guess that’s a plot hole you have to ignore in order to make this scene work.
Of course, this Paigyn character is a ridiculous caricature of what the most anti-woke conservative thinks a liberal non-binary person is, so fair play to the writers for managing to fit in as many unlikable stereotypes into one character as they possibly could. Imagine actually having to share a room with this person at uni for a whole year?!
Later in the episode, Ainsley is summoned to the school administrator’s office where she’s scolded for not respecting Paigyn’s pronouns. Who knows – maybe she’ll end up brainwashed by her new roommate and end up cutting her hair and using they/them pronouns herself?
I’m sure her dad in the show – a Texas oil business veteran played by Billy Bob Thornton – would love that.
