Russia’s humanoid robot FEDOR (Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research) is currently being trained to shoot guns from both its hands. Well that’s reassuring…

Despite the very obvious connotations of carrying out such a project, the creators have denied that they’re making a real-life Terminator. Instead they have said the activity will help the android’s motor skills and decision making.

In addition to being able to shoot, FEDOR can also drive a car. It has been designed to travel to space in 2021 and could potentially be the only passenger aboard Russia’s Federation spacecraft. Although FEDOR was originally designed for rescue work, the engineers have suggested its use in the military. Well duh.

Russia’s deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, said on Twitter:

Robot platform F.E.D.O.R. showed shooting skills with two hands.

We are not creating a Terminator, but artificial intelligence that will be of great practical significance in various fields.

When someone says that they aren’t doing something when no one even asked, it makes me think that they definitely are doing it. Especially after watching this demonstration video:

Yep, it looks like they definitely are building a Terminator. We’re all screwed.

When WW3 breaks out, expect me to be hiding in a bunker and guzzling on one of these badboys.
