Remember that Winnie The Pooh horror movie trailer that came out a few months ago that sent the internet wild?

Whilst most people thought that the concept was sort of cool and a bit out there, some of us actually thought that it had ruined our childhood and were so upset by the reimagining of the classic children’s character that they ended up sending death threats to the director. Here’s what British director Rhys Frake-Waterfield had to say about it all:

Look, this is mental, I’ve had petitions to stop it. I’ve had death threats.

I’ve had people saying they called the police.

I really believed in the idea. Other people didn’t… and now it’s doing all right.

One person literally yesterday was like, ‘Do you want a million to make a film? Just tell me the concept and we will just go ahead with it,’

That’s really hard to get. It’s hard to get funding for any film, but people are starting to really try and engage.

Well it doesn’t sound like it’s going too badly for the guy does it? Although obviously it’s never cool to receive death threats, I think the chances of someone actually killing him for making this movie are slim to none. Can you imagine how stupid that would be?

Anyway, ‘Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey’ is released on March 10th in this country and Frake-Waterfield has his eyes on surpassing ‘Paranormal Activity’s $15,000 budget to $193 million box office takings record. The movie has already been released in Mexico and done pretty well, so maybe it isn’t outside the realms of possibility? We’ll see.
