Vladimir Putin Responds After Keir Starmer Says Russia Might Attack Europe: “It’s Laughable”
Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed warnings from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer regarding a potential Russian attack on Europe as “nonsense” and “hysteria”.
Fear of a Russian attack on Europe (and beyond) is peddled to the masses every so often, but is it just a reason to justify military spending and distract from other issues?
Putin seems to think so:

Putin described the idea of Russia attacking a NATO member as “impossible to believe” and urged European leaders to “cool down” and focus on their own internal domestic problems instead of “whipping up hysteria”.
In the same speech, Putin called Starmer a “little pig” and referred to European leaders as “European piglets” for their support of US foreign policy.
He also noted the deployment of the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus, which places several European capitals within striking distance in just minutes. Just in case he changes his mind, I guess?

Earlier this week, Starmer said Europe must be “ready to fight” and that “hard power is the currency of the age”, and really pushed the idea that Russia poses a major threat.
Can we really take Putin’s word for it that he’s not planning a strike on Europe? After all, he did invade Ukraine, but then he would argue that Ukraine began moving closer to NATO and that this was a threat to Russian security.
Well anyway, I guess it doesn’t hurt to be ready, but let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. We’ve got GTA 6 coming out in November! At least put it off until after then.
