Tommy Fury managed to out point Jake Paul in a pretty awful boxing match on Sunday night and Jake was quick to say that he didn’t want to offer any excuses for the loss after the fight, before saying that he was ill during training camp and had hurt his arm, meaning he had pretty much offered a whole bunch of excuses.

Obviously Tommy Fury wasn’t just going to accept these reasons for the loss and said the following when speaking to IFLTV yesterday about them:

It wouldn’t be my approach if I lost the fight, I’d say fair and square the better man won, even if I had been ill.

I don’t believe that he’s been ill because he wasn’t ill when he was posting all the way through social media about, you know how great his camp’s been..so I wouldn’t buy into that, he got beat fair and square last night and that’s it.

Yeah I dunno here. Boxing and combat sports is all talk anyway so nobody is going to come out and say they were ill or hurt their arm before the fight are they? But then it does sort of make you sound like a massive loser/pussy after the event if you start listing all these reasons why you lost.

Boxers have to have that ego and put the fact that they lost down to some external factor and not just the fact that someone was better than them, otherwise they wouldn’t compete. Not sure if anyone is actually that up for buying the rematch considering how poor the first fight was, but maybe they’ll both be able to talk a good game in the run up to it again?

For more of the same, check out Radio Rahim’s bizarre interview with Logan Paul during the fight that went viral. Really weird stuff there.
