Legendary producer and longtime Justin Timberlake collaborator Timbaland has come under fire this week for saying that Justin ‘should have put a muzzle’ on Britney Spears, after she shared some embarrassing anecdotes about her ex in her new memoir.
Timbaland said in an interview: “I wanted to call JT and say ‘Man! You should have put a muzzle on that girl.’ But you know what? We live in the age of social media and viral. Everyone wants to go viral. I get it because that’s the way you make money, [by going] viral.”

The reaction from Britney fans was not good, and included several people calling out Timbaland for once admitting he was ‘in love’ with R&B singer Aaliyah when she was 16:

Lol – you just can’t win once the internet is out to get you. Good thing Timbaland has made his fortune already! Can’t be saying things like women should be ‘muzzled’ in the year 2023, can you? Especially a woman who was already muzzled for years when put under conservatorship by her own family. Amazingly, Britney has yet to rant at Timbaland in an Instagram response video, but you have to think that’s coming any minute now.
