Do you know how bad a TV show needs to be to get cancelled after five episodes? Extremely bad. Which seems to be the case with HBO’s ‘The Idol’, starring the Weeknd AKA Abel Tesfaye and Lily Rose-Depp.

With acting like this, it all adds up really:

As we’ve written previously, The Idol is basically soft porn where nothing particularly interesting is happening storyline-wise. All that’s seemed to happen in the first four episodes is Lily Rose-Depp smoking a million cigarettes and the Weeknd being some really weird cult leader/sex freak type. In fact the only headlines I’ve seen about this show since it started is how bad it is.

So yeah, really weird that HBO greenlit this show after hitting an absolute home run with ‘Succession’, but I guess they can’t all be winners. Apparently the original plan was for The Idol to have 8 episodes, and then it was cut down to 7, then 6, and now 5? Has to be in contention for one of the worst shows in history with that record. At least it’s almost over eh?
