Tara Kirk Has The Internet In Meltdown Again After Scoring Winner For Peterborough United

A few weeks back, Peterborough United put out a statement asking fans to stop ‘sexualising’ their players. Well it seems those pleas have fallen on deaf ears if the reaction to the Tara Kirk goal on the weekend is anything to go by.

As usual, the Peterborough United X account put out a celebratory Tweet. It racked up a monster 13k likes, but also invited the type of comments they’ve been begging people to cut back on:

In fairness, if you go through all the comments most of them seem to be genuine fans bigging up either Peterborough or Kirk herself, and there’s even some (ironic?) Ballon D’or shouts.

Still, the club seem to get irritated any time there’s a handful of comments that are focusing on the players’ aesthetics, as evidenced by the fact they then turned off comments for the scorer of the second goal, the equally beautiful talented Frankie Pim:

Obviously the fact the team is made up of several attractive looking ladies is helping the club out massively when it comes to social media engagement, but I guess it’s commendable that they want to put their morals and respect for the game first. Do the two things necessarily have to be mutually exclusive?

Anyway, what really matters is that the girls are still in with a chance of winning the league. Go Peterborough Go!
