School Children React To The UK Social Media Ban For Under-16s Live On BBC News

It what may actually prove to be the most impossible law to enforce in history, Keir Starmer has announced that British under-16s will be banned from using social media – effective early 2027.

Naturally, schoolkids around the country are not happy about this whatsoever:

Not sure about the “not being able to contact my friends” argument (ever heard of a phone number, lad?) but you can fully understand their frustration all the same. No more TikTok, no more Snapchat, no more cyberbullying, no more viral trends. No more staring at the screen for 12 hours a day. What kind of a life is that for an under 16?

Well, as I said, this is going to be a very difficult rule to enforce. All the under 16s in Australia are still on social media and they were supposedly banned in 2025. It’s really as simple as just lying on the age verification process.

The only under 16s who are actually going to be banned from using social media are the ones who can’t figure this out/don’t know how to use a VPN. Which I guess is a good thing, because dumb teenagers and social media is not a good mix. Good luck to them.

For the rapper who accidentally killed himself on social media after pointing a gun at his head and pulling the trigger, click HERE. If only someone had banned him eh?
